What do we deliver in this course?

Aimed at drone pilots who want to take specific category training to be able to fly in the Standard STS 01 scenarios in urban environments and STS 02 for flights beyond visual range.

For STS01 and STS02 training, we have an e-learning platform so that you can start studying all the theory at your own pace, and you will also find several tests that are examples of real AESA exams, to prepare you for the final exam.

We are committed to a face-to-face theoretical class for just one student and one tutor, via streaming or in person if you prefer and are from the Tarragona area, to clarify all doubts with the tutor. There we will discuss all theoretical doubts that may arise regarding the AESA exam, and any questions about the registration process, application for the STS exam, document submission, etc.

The practical phase is carried out by arranging a Saturday afternoon with the student, and at the BELLVEI aerodrome facilities. The practices are carried out for 2-3 students. The practices do not have an exam as such, nor a set time per student, but the instructor will determine it according to the ability and needs of each student, and complying with the requirements demanded by AESA, and which we have to validate with a flight log.

To take the STS you must have previously passed the A1/A3, and if you are going to train in the STS01 and STS02 scenarios of the Specific Category, the A2 training is included in that qualification and therefore you no longer need it.
Theoretical training for STS can be provided by a training entity, a UAS operator, or on your own, always following the syllabus contained in the syllabus published by AESA. It is AESA’s responsibility to carry out the theoretical knowledge exam for STS and, if applicable, issue the corresponding certificate. We offer you the syllabus with a 100% online system, organized and with self-tests similar to the AESA exams to prepare for the final exam.
We are committed to an online meeting or even in person (if you are from the Tarragona area), to resolve all the doubts that arise when preparing for the exam. Our sessions are with a minimum number of students to give you a quick and immediate response, and so that you leave fully trained.
After passing the theoretical exam before AESA, for the operation under a standard scenario, specific practical training is required for each STS01 or STS02 scenario, which will consist of a continuous evaluation and obtaining accreditation of practical skills for that standard scenario by recognized entities that have declared to provide said practical training, our entity is registered in the name of Ricard Cabayol Olivé. LINK TO RECOGNIZED ENTITIES.
Our practices are with CLASS C2 marked drones, (DJI MAVIC PRO type) and with small groups of maximum 3 students per instructor to provide good training.
Once you obtain the STS01 and STS02 certificates, we inform you that you are not allowed to fly in CTR zones if you do not have the Radio Operator certificate. CTR (Controlled Traffic Region) airspaces are the areas known as Controlled Airspaces and Airport Security Zones, and therefore include the areas close to airports, aerodromes and landing strips.

To obtain the STS Professional Drone Pilot Certificate, you must have completed the free course offered by AESA A1/A3, and then pass the STS exam offered by AESA, and the practical part carried out by TARRACO DRONE as an entity recognized by AESA.

It is a necessary requirement to have passed the STS theoretical exam by AESA

Access to the exams is limited to a period of 30 days, which starts counting from the moment the access notification is sent. If no attempt is made to take the exam after the 30-day period has elapsed, the pilot will be deemed to have withdrawn his application and consequently, in order to regain access, he will have to register again.

To obtain the certificate for a standard scenario, the remote pilot must pass the AESA exam with at least 75% of the correct answers and will appear at the end of any attempt as Pass. It consists of 40 questions, and if you have the A2 only 30 questions, and you have 40 minutes to take the exam.

The remote pilot theoretical knowledge certificate obtained is unique for the two national standard scenarios and, as these certificates are issued in accordance with the national standard scenarios, they are valid until 2 December 2025.

In the event that the 2 exam attempts are exhausted and a grade of Fail is obtained, the remote pilot will receive a negative resolution and must re-register again to obtain two new attempts and pass the exam.

In both cases, after passing the theoretical exam before AESA, for the operation under a standard scenario, specific practical training is required  for each scenario, provided by entities recognized by AESA

We have read many times in forums or in reviews. This course is free. We explain:

Of course, you can complete the theoretical STS on your own, if you get the Syllabus syllabus, which AESA offers you.

Just like you can learn the theoretical driving test on your own, getting the syllabus on your own, and the tests on your own. But practice is mandatory through a driving school.

In this case, under the name of the instructor and creator of Ricard Cabayol Olive, you will find us as  an Entity recognized by  AESA to provide training and evaluation of practical skills for remote pilots in STS-ES, but we also offer and provide you with an online course with orientation tests, so that you can avoid all the bureaucratic issues of taking the theoretical course on your own.

The practical phase is carried out in one day, including training in VLOS (UAS within visual range) and BVLOS (UAS beyond visual range), and is carried out at the Bellvei aerodrome. The practical phase is usually carried out on Saturday afternoons or, if we can arrange it with the student, during the week.

On the same day, you will be assessed by Ricard Cabayol Olivé, who, as a training entity recognised by AESA, will be able to certify that you have completed practical skills for the Standard Scenario STS-ES-01 and STS-ES-02.

The practices consist of different maneuvers, along with planning and tests both pre-flight and post-flight.

WHERE DO WE DO OUR FLIGHT PRACTICE?

The practical part is carried out by our instructor at the Bellveí Aerodrome flight field (Tarragona). It is a large, clean and comfortable area to fly in, where you will be accompanied at all times by an instructor who will teach you everything you need to learn how to fly a drone. You will be able to capture the best images of the beautiful landscape offered by the Bellvei aerodrome. You will learn to fly drones on a flight field, in a very personalized way.
